Jim Lasko
Public Space Transformed
Jim has served as Artistic Director of Redmoon for 20 years; he is honored to currently share that title with Frank Maugeri. He's acknowledged as the City of Chicago’s first ever Artist in Residence, for his long commitment and success in creating artistic events. Jim is an artist who's excited about public spaces, and believes art can invigorate a community and promote civic well being. Applying his formal training as a theater maker to create public events, Jim has designed spectacles, parades and specific performances, interactive exhibits, along with traditional theater productions. Some of Jim's most well received projects include Hunchback, his adaptation of Frankenstein at the Steppenwolf Theater won numerous awards and national attention. In collaboration with Frank Maugeri, Once Upon a Time performed at the Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles and the International Puppetry Festival in Charleville, France.
Jim Lasko is an artist excited about public spaces and how, when thoughtfully deployed there, art can invigorate community and promote civic well being.
