What is The Small Cities Movement?

February 20, 2012
The Small Cities Movement is an open and non-commercial effort to share powerful ideas for strengthening people and places. Perhaps most significant among it's initiatives is the creation of a web platform (SmallCitiesMovement.com) for crowd-sourced information and idea sharing between place makers across the United States and abroad. The mission of the platform is to identify, elevate, assist, promote and connect innovative people, places and projects that have an exponential impact on strengthening cities and towns from the inside out. The focus is on municipalities with populations of 100,000 or less, but the SCM recognizes that its work has much to share (in both directions) with larger cities.

We want YOUR ideas for the upcoming launch of SmallCitiesMovement.com

CityWorks is ready to serve placemakers and placemaking in any way possible.  Foremost among its initiatives is the upcoming launch of our new web platform, SmallCitiesMovement.com This site will be an open and non-commercial effort to freely share powerful ideas for creating positive social change.

The mission of the platform is to identify, elevate, assist, promote, and connect innovative people, places, and projects that have an exponential impact on strengthening towns and cities. While the focus is on municipalities with populations of 100,000 or less, CityWorks recognizes that larger and smaller places have a great deal of experience to share in both directions.

We want YOUR input. CityWorks invites you to share your concepts for making SmallCitiesMovement.com a more powerful tool for sharing information and ideas about placemaking in the US and abroad.
